A human adult or animal is a creature that has developed to its full potential. Adult is a term used in the context of humans to mean moral and social concepts. In contrast to "minor" or "non-adult", a legal-age adult refers to a person who has achieved the age of majority. They are thought to be competent, responsible and independent. It is also possible to view them as an "major". 18 is the typical legal age for adulthood however, this can differ depending on country and the status of the law as well the maturity of the mind.
